Program Description

The pediatric emergency nurse serves on the front lines, advocating and caring for children presenting to the pediatric emergency setting. To function effectively in this role, a nurse must be able to quickly and efficiently assess the patient and family, recognize life-threatening challenges specific to the pediatric population and use critical thinking to effect positive outcomes on the patient and families in his/her care. This course is designed to assist the nurse to meet the challenge by preparing the nurse for the Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse Exam. This course serves as a comprehensive, focused review geared towards delivering challenging topics in a manner that is easy to understand and transfer to real world clinical scenarios. The program is based on the detailed content outline as printed in the current CPEN Handbook.
